Mattituck School District Looks to Replace 40-Year-Old Track

Voters asked to approve $925,000 bond for the project.

The Mattituck School District says it needs a new track and to build it, it needs voters to support the plan.

On Oct. 29, the Mattituck District is asking voters to approve a 15-year bond not to exceed $925,000 to rebuild its 40-year-old track, which has fallen in disrepair.

According to the new district, if the bond is approved, the new track will be built over the existing cinder track. The new 6-lane polyflex track surface, the district said, will meet all high school track standards.

The district estimates that track will take three months to build with construction starting in 2014.
