Greenport High School ranked along with other East End Schools.

Greenport High School made the cut — it was recently ranked 2,109 out of 22,000 high schools nationally and 172nd within New York State in the U.S. News and World Report high school rankings. It also earned a Silver Award as a top-performing school.

Greenport was ranked along with other East End Schools, including Sag Harbor's Peirson High School, which was nationally ranked 833; Westhampton Beach High School, which is number 401 on the list and East Hampton High School, which came in at number 799.

U.S. News and World Report said its rankings are determined by college readiness, math and English proficiency and student-to-teacher ratio.

New York State Regents test scores determine proficiency in English and math, according to the publication. Greenport High School is 3.3 percent proficient in Math and 3.5 percent proficient in English, the report states.

A school’s college readiness index is based on AP and IB exam participation rates and percentages of students passing at least one exam. The index also determines which medals will be awarded to the top scoring schools.

This year, Greenport came in with an index of 16.8 percent . In its student to teacher ratio, Greenport is recorded as having an average of 13 students to every one full-time teacher.  There are an average of 349 students in the school and 27 teachers.
