Cops: Greenport Man Charged with DWI

Police said the driver was stopped for an unsafe lane change.

A Greenport man was slapped with a felony charge after police said he was nabbed for driving while intoxicated.

According to Southold Town police, Rudy Elias, 34, was arrested on August 13 and charged with DWI, a felony, on Third Street in Greenport.

Police said Elias was observed making an unsafe lane change; he was found to be intoxicated, was arrested, and transported to Southold Town police headquarters for processing.

Elias had previously been convicted for driving while intoxicated so his vehicle was towed to the impound yard at Southold Town Police Department, police said.
