4-Car Accident In Cutchogue Ties Up Traffic

At least one driver hospitalized, police said.

Police were on the scene of a four car accident in Cutchogue Thursday that snarled traffic but resulted in non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

According to Southold Town police, a motorist driving a silver truck failed to yield on County Road 48 while turning right and heading southbound onto Depot Lane in Cutchogue.

During the accident, which took place at approximately 5:15 p.m. Thursday, the truck broadsided a Dodge neon on the driver's side and then hit a Chevy Silverado, which then hit a fourth vehicle.

At least one driver was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries, police said.

Traffic heading east on CR48 was backed up for miles due to the accident.
