Peconic Landing Honors Hospital President, CEO

Paul J. Connor will be honored for his commitment to older Americans.

One man's years of dedication to seniors will be honored at a Peconic Landing event in May.

Peconic Landing's "2013 Older Americans Champion Award" will be given to Eastern Long Island Hospital's president and CEO, Paul J. Conner, at the 8th Annual Peconic Landing May Mile & 5K Race/Walk on Saturday, May 11.

Proceeds of the event will benefit the Greenport Fire Department.

“This honor recognizes Connor’s years of service and continued dedication to older Americans, and salutes the differences he consistently strives to make in their quality of life,” Robert J. Syron, President/CEO of Peconic Landing, said. “We expect approximately 600 participants from our local community as well as Peconic Landing residents.”

Since joining Eastern Long Island Hospital in 2000, Peconic Landing staffers said, Connor has championed the needs of the 65-and-over population.

Programs that highlight Connor's dedication include The Senior Options and Solutions (SOS) program, geared toward assessing and assisting residents to find the help needed in each individual case.

The service is free to community and not reimbursed by third parties.

Connor currently serves on the board at Peconic Landing as vice chair, as well as chairman of the co-op board.

The May Mile is a family- friendly event held on the grounds of Peconic Landing. Registration opens at 8:00 am; the race/walk kicks off at 10:00 a.m. A barbecue, Puppy Bowl, and raffles for all participants are scheduled to take place immediately following the post-race award ceremony and trophy presentations.
