One-Stop Shop For Homeowners Opening Up In Jamesport

Looking to buy a house? Get some work done on it? Keep an eye over it while you're out of town? Or do you just want a place to set up shop and get some wi-fi?

Devon Higgins, Don Higgins and John Lamendola are setting up shop on Main Street in Jamesport to bring homeowners - or prospective homeowners - from point A to point Z, hoping to streamline many home services under one roof.

The location on Main Road in Jamesport, right next to Duffy's Deli, will house a few different businesses - one related to the legal side, a real estate office and a construction office.

Devon Higgins refers to the idea as a "newer concept" in real estate.

"I want to have a kind of North Fork concierge service almost, where if someone needs an electrician, or a landscaper, they can pop in and we can give them a name ... Because there is a lot of crossover. And now you have a starting point as a buyer so you're not flipping through the phone book for something all the time."

The law office for Don Higgins, Devon's father, started doing estate work years back and after finding that many families were in need of real estate services after, formed a real estate company, which has since grown to employ 12 agents. The Jamesport satellite office will be able to handle a couple of agents as they come in and out, and the door will be open to the public to walk in.

On Tuesday, Lamendola - the owner of Coastline Building Contractors, which will hold one of the three offices - and a crew was working on the space. A front area holds a pub-style table and bar, where wireless Internet will be available and Higgins hopes to serve beverages to people stopping in.

No firm opening date is set as of yet, though Higgins said they had been aiming for Memorial Day weekend.
