Dog Missing in Mattituck: Have You Seen Charlie?

Charlie was last seen on Factory Avenue and Main Road in Mattituck on Saturday.

A Mattituck couple is frantic after their dog went missing on Friday.

Kayla Masem said her dog Charlie, a female pointer mix who's white with a large brown spot over one eye, was lost on North Riley Avenue. She was last seen near Waldbaums, on Factory Avenue and Main Road, on Saturday.

Masem, who has a 13-month old baby and is pregnant, said she and her husband have had Charlie for four-and-a-half years.

On Friday, Charlie disappeared, Masem said. The couple kept the dog on a 30-foot leash outside their home, which has no fence, and Charlie broke free of her collar.

"We're really upset," Masem said. "I don't understand this — she's gone off before, into the woods behind our house, but we call her and she comes back."

She added that Charlie, who is shy but very friendly, is their only pet. "We love her. She is definitely part of the family."
