Local Hip-Hop Artist to Shoot Video at Greenport School

Rapper Mike Check has a call out for kids ages 3 to 17 to be players for a Sunday morning video shoot.

Local musician Mike Check wants you to stand up and be in a scene in his video about ditching the nine-to-five and finding your passion. Check will be at Greenport School at 10 a.m. on Sunday for a video shoot for his song “Stand Up” — an anthem about realizing what you are really meant to do for a living instead of compromising life for a job you hate. Check is looking for kids to lip synch these lyrics: “Trying hard to speak and fighting with my weak hand, driven to distraction, so part of the plan." The video shoot comes after the publication of a video of a song about Occupy Wall Street Check posted recently on YouTube. The World Needs a Mike Check

Friends and colleagues campaign to raise funds for local hip-hop artist’s newest project.

It wasn’t until Mike Check participated in an industry-sponsored hip-hop competition, in Manhattan last year, that he actually thought about taking his craft to the next level. “Since hip-hop unplugged I have started zoning in on this next project,” the Greenport native explained. “The new project is called ‘Stars, Dreams and Elbow Grease’ and it's just how it sounds... I’m shooting for the stars, chasing my dreams and working 110 percent.” To date, everything that Mike Check has done has been funded with his own money.
