With safety issues a main concern, Southold Town Board members deny the allowance of a planned overnight bicycle ride through the North Fork and table another proposal from the same group at Tuesday’s meeting.
For the past nine years, upstate resident Glen Goldstein has organized the North Fork Century bicycle ride through the North Fork — with options of a 100-mile full century, a 72-mile ride, a 50 mile ride, or a 25-mile route. Everyone starts together and riders can decide which distance they want to do in the middle of the ride. This year, Goldstein was planning that same event — a winding ride for about 1,000 cyclists starting and ending at Greenport High School — on Aug. 26. He was also planning a night ride for about 500 people starting at Cross Sound Ferry in Orient on Sept. 30. Goldstein organized one of these night rides on 2010 but Tropical Storm Irene canceled last year’s plan. Southold Town asked Goldstein to apply this year for …

Additionally, on Sunday, May 20, at 4 p.m., a celebration of Aspinall's life is planned at the Topping Riding Club hunt field in Sagaponack. "Anne’s friends and all those whose lives she touched are invited to join in celebrating her many accomplishments and contributions," reads a Hampton Classic statement. Hamptons Collegiate Baseball is looking for housing for its players during the 2012 season.
Now that it's mid-March the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball league is looking for families to house their players. Host families are required to supply a player with a room, a bed, laundry, and meals but will not need to provide transportation. Players will arrive early in June and stay until the first week in August. They will play baseball five or 6 days a week and will workout at local gyms. "We strongly believe the relationships that are forged between players and host families will be memorable and …
