Herodotus Damianos, owner of Pindar Vineyards in Peconic and one of the architects of the Long Island wine industry,More founded Duck Walk Vineyards in Watermill –part of Southampton– in 1994. The chateau-style building is where all the wine is produced, and has a small tasting room that still attracts crowds on the South Fork. In 2007, a Duck Walk tasting room opened on Route 48 in Southold, providing another venue for tastings of such Duck Walk staples as Southampton White and Blueberry Port. Duck Walk also operates a retail wine store in Port Jefferson.

Scarola Vineyards is a small producer of wines made in the Scarola family winemaking tradition, which began generationsMore ago in the port city of Bari, Italy. At Wolffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, owner Frank Scarola and winemaker Roman Roth make about 500 cases out of grapes purchased from North Fork growers. Scaraola wines, such as Cappella chardonnay and Masseria merlot, can be found at the recently opened Cedar House Bed and Breakfast in Mattituck and in restaurants across Long Island and New York City. Scarola wines will soon be planted on about an acre of land behind Cedar House Bed and Breakfast.
