Peconic Star Fleet

The Peconic Star Fleet is made up of two 150-passenger cruisers — the Peconic Star II, a 90-foot fishing boat,More and the Peconic Star Express, a recently-refurbished 80-foot fishing boat that is also used for lighthouse tours and day trips to Block Island, Rhode Island's famous summertime getaway. The boats sail from the railroad dock in Greenport next to the Shelter Island Ferry North Terminal.

Both vessels are decked out with state-of-the-art fishing equipment, free Wi-Fi and sound systems for background music. Moonlight cruises and night fishing trips are also available.

Located dockside next to Port of Eqypt Marina, Wego Fishing Bait & Tackle has been serving the North Fork of LongMore Island, NY since 1985.  Owner Steve and his crew are here seven days a week to outfit any fisherman, from beginner to expert. They sell the top name brands in tackle and most of their bait comes from our local waters here on the North Fork. The staff here is very friendly and will accommodate any skill level with the appropriate gear and advice.

Greenport Yacht & Ship Building Company

Greenport Yacht & Ship Building Company was initially founded as a commercial shipyard in the mid-1800s. The companyMore soon evolved, building quality fishing and oyster boats as well as private yachts. At the height of the commercial fishing industry (around the waters of the eastern North Fork in Gardiner's and Peconic Bay), Greenport Yacht & Ship Building Company built or repaired most of the entire fishing fleet. The company's success landed them several contracts with the United States Government building Minesweepers for the US Navy during World War II. The yard also maintained and repaired many convoy escort ships and United States Navy Subchasers during this time period. After World War II, it returned to building and repairing commercial vessels. Today, one may see one of the local ferry boats hauled and dry-docked for service.
