Railroad Museum of Long Island

Staffed by volunteers, the Greenport site of the Railroad Museum of Long Island is located steps from the ShelterMore Island Ferry and Hampton Jitney stop. The site was once a Long Island Railroad freight building, and now houses two cars, the Museum gift, shop, a large model railroad layout and historical railroad paraphernalia.</p> <p>The Museum hosts several special events, including the visit by Santa Claus each December. Santa arrives by train and visits with children.</p> <p>The museum is funded primarily through donations and membership fees.</p>

Cutchogue New Suffolk Historical Council

The Cutchogue New Suffolk Historical Society is a non-profit organization that owns and maintains the Old Burying GroundMore and the historic structures — one of which was originally built by European settlers in 1649 — located in the hamlet's Village Green. The group is run in large part by volunteers and is chartered by the New York State Educational Department Board of Regents as an educational institution. Staff members give tours of the historic structures and help coordinate seasonal activities including month-long Christmas festivities in December.
