Anyone who visited the Greenport Schools art show yesterday would have to feel very positive aboutRead More voting for the budget. At a time when public school art programs are being cut all over the country, Greenport is fostering the artistic talents of its students and the results are extraordinary! The projects featured in the show are imaginative; the student work is outstanding; and learning about art is combined with learning about what inspires it--nature, fashion, or other artists.

I am curious as to where Southold and Mattituck ranked in the nation. With all the tax dollars beingRead More spent I would be surprised that they are not at least ranked as high as Greenport. Also-does this not take some of the wind out of the sails of those parents of students in Oyster Ponds who, for some reason or other, would rather their children attend Southold?

The "contractual" obligations for health and pension should be renegotiated. EnrollmentRead More declined by 15 % and taxes go up to keep funding the elite class of educational "administrators". The administrators should be reduced and dental and medical benefits be reduced to no better than Medicare.

Reduce administration's pay or have them pay medical/dental increases. We cannot keep maintainingRead More this elete class.

Pay for Supt. should be based upon number of students.

Supt. and administrative staff should have small salary reduction. If medical costs are excluded,Read More the actual cost of living has DECLINED over the past year. The Supt.and administrative staff do not pay the increased health care insurance costs at all and should not PROFIT from its increase. Build up the reserve and reduce taxes

Was this a true hard salary freeze? So no "step up " increases? NO increased insuranceRead More costs borne by the District? In this economy I would like the compensation of all school district staffers be transparent.
