Ho Ho Ho. Gov. Cuomo saves the day. Fixed! Election Day and his potential re-election is lessRead More than 4 months away. He thinks John Q. Public won't know who has who in their back pockets. Then there is that Public Relations clown Schumer who said they should wait 2 months to strike. Great idea! All the teachers will go back to work, schools in session, adding more traffic. DiBlasio was the only one who said this was the best time if there were to be a strike. He was the only one who actually gave it some thought.

Also agree with oldfed. The parade of small planes that fly over my house in Mastic Beach isRead More relentless on the weekends. The constant noise is really getting to me.
oldfed July 14, 2014 at 11:04 am
Krista: Hey, instead of reading all that AOPA propaganda, and patting yourself on the head for beingRead More a private pilot, try looking at the NTSB stats re the TYPE of planes involved in serious accidents (ie. Piper Cubs, Beechcraft, etc.). Those are typically small, one engined planes, not regional prop jobs or jets flown by PROFESSIONAL PILOTS. And the idea that the real pilots all started w/ toyplanes is an anachronism. It might be better to let the military/airlines take beginners from the start. Many toyplane pilots are older, have medical issues, or are stupid morons like that Kennedy son. At least with drivers you might be able to change lanes, but toyplanes are at least an unecessary, loud distraction that just might land on your barbeque! Send them out to sea...
Brian Whitehurst July 8, 2014 at 10:53 am
It looks like the Patch talked to the Coast Guard. Did they talk to the FAA? Where did the planeRead More take off from? Did it file a flight plan? Where was it headed? Was he an experienced pilot? Did he radio for help before the crash. If he was over LI he was in contact with LI Approach Controllers and had a transponder identifying him. What did they have to say about what they saw him doing on radar?
Sean July 8, 2014 at 05:34 pm
Thankful this irresponsible maniac did not crash into someone's home or kill any innocentRead More bystanders.
oldfed July 8, 2014 at 10:10 pm
Great! Sad to say, but a brief scan of the official FAA website reveals that most fatal crashes areRead More connected to stupid, usually overage pilots flying "toyplanes". They all think that they are commercial/military pilots, but they are no more qualified than any boaters out there! Make them go immediately out to sea, and stay away from our backyards, please!

WHEW, Bob, talk about rants. I think you went off on a tangent. You started on me, then Timmy, thenRead More Zelden. Eventually you got around to endorsing Zelden after calling him a lifelong hack who did zero as State Senator, who wouldn't return your calls (insulting) and made unbelievable claims in his primary run. I'm sure he's proud to get YOUR endorsement which you could have summed up as being the "lesser of two zero's".
Robert Fishman July 6, 2014 at 09:08 am
Really, I started on you? Amazing. Crook or Vet. I pick the VET. You did get one thing rightRead More "TIMMY" is a zero for sure. He has proven that with his record of zero jobs and voting in lockstep with his leader the disgrace Pelosi who may represent a small twisted liberal world in Cali but not this country. Give me one accomplishment of your boy "TIMMY" the crook. Other than allowing the take over of my Long Island by endless streams of illegals stealing from the middle class taxpayer in the form of dozens of handouts. This makes his rich constituency happy as they have slaves to wipe their arses....and I am called a racist by the likes of you....
knee jerk July 6, 2014 at 10:02 am
I do not specifically call anyone a racist because I believe everyone, in some way or another, is aRead More racist. Show me where I called you a racist. I vote for "Timmy" to prevent the takeover of our government by fringe elements , specifically the "Tea Party". This is but one of his many accomplishments.

Why did parents of 42 teen agers allow their kids to go on this type of 'ride to nowhere' with noRead More chaperone or at least one parent on the bus with those kids. If seems they knew what the kids were going to do and perhaps thought it OK to let someone else drive around and while they partied. Why isn't child protective services looking into each and every house to find out the answers? When the parents point one finger out to blame someone else, they have three other fingers pointing back at themselves. The driver was 'just driving as that is his job'. Why hold him accountable for the kids bad choices and their own parents neglect. These kids and their parents put someone else's life in jeopardy and the PARENTS are to blame for this incident. They and their children are accountable for their own actions. Out of 40 kids - no one asked their kids what they were going to be doing and just let them go? Do not allow all of them to all walk away without consequence. Do not punish the only one doing what he was supposed to be doing - driving.

To everyone who made a comment about his death - shame on you. This was someone's son, father,Read More friend, lover. I am an animal lover and have four rescues - but rescue dogs are not for everyone and millions of people will continue to buy from breeders whether that be directly or via a puppy store. So get over it and put your engery into shutting down puppy mills, not breeders or stores. I have been in that store many times - I wish there were an outdoor area but that too is in inherit to problems with young puppies and I wish certain things were different about it but he did NOT abuse animals and many people have gotten good pets from him. The comments about this poor guy are outrageous ......and remember karma folks - what goes around comes around - and I just heard he killed himself - I hope that is not true but if it is, you know who you are that pushed him over the edge. He was running a LEGITIMATE business - you may not like it but those type of businesses are never going to go away and show some respect people.
