The '"he" was most likely a "she" on her way to or from laying eggs upland from…Read More her home body of water. Snapping turtles live in fresh (and brackish) water and are territorial. Leaving her on the beach has caused her to now have a dangerous and extended journey back home. Box turtles, too, should not be moved away from their territory.

First of all, let's stop these postings from becoming a venue for those who like to attack others.…Read More It cheapens this site. To answer the question at hand, I think the Festival should be open to ALL. Maybe a lower fee for the local (North Fork) merchants? If you don't want to look at those silly knockoff bags or clothes made overseas, don't. But for those who want these items, why restrict it? Let's face it, this is a tourist area, and people with bulging wallets come from afar to spend money. This attracts visitors, and increases the income for all, not just those who sell "Peruvian" sweaters. Look at the Polish Festival in August. Open to all.... Let it be!

Personally I think this is a great idea. The idea that the crowd for the Maritime Festival would be…Read More smaller with no outside vendors in insane. Truthfully, any event that goes on in this town, it is something to do. People would are out here for the weekend will come down and check it out, because they always do. There is more than enough business in Greenport that can support the needs of the community and of the festival. One of the main attractions to the Maritime Festival is to support the economy of the village, and if you have the local business owners involved more so than they have been in the past, it will over time boost the economy. People in the past came out and maybe stopped into a store on Front Street, but for the most part the businesses were not be showcased the way they should have been, this year they will be.

If we want sausage sandwiches, we will ask Emilio's to feature sausage & peppers or The Rhumbline, or BBQ Bills...and as far as funnel cakes, if that is what people want, we will ask someone from our village to set it up.

who said exotic??
who said only 30??
Honestly, I really wish you would find something constructive to do with your time instead of trying to find fault & failure around every corner.
Why don't you break out the funnel cake yourself?
