<p>The DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold has been serving the community since 1940. The DeFriest family owned and operated the funeral home for more than 50 years. In 2002, the Defriests sold the firm to one of its funeral directors, Joseph Grattan. Today the Defriests still work with the Grattan family in the home as directors and managers.</p> <p>Over the years, the funeral home has expanded with locations on Shelter Island and Mattituck, but its philosophy of helping families in a most difficult time has remained unchanged.
