Half of the Cutchogue New Suffolk Free Library was once an Independent Congregational Church. The building was built in 1862 by a group of people who had parted ways with the nearby Presbyterian church. That building was refurbished for use as a library in 1914 and opened for business in 1917. The library expanded in the 1980s and has continued to be a major community center, with high-speed Internet access, a local history room and lots of activities for kids.
