Breakwater Beach and Park

Flag as Inappropriate

Located on a sandy expanse of beach west of the Mattituck Inlet jetty — a heavily-used federal channel — Breakwater Beach on the Long Island Sound is frequented by fishermen, families and beach volleyball players during the summer. Endangered piping plovers are protected in a large roped-off section of the beach during their nesting season. Dramatic sunsets over the sound can be witnessed year-round at Breakwater Beach.
