Week Ahead: 'Taste North Fork,' Election Day, Open Mic at MEET

Who will you vote for on Election Day?

Here's a look at what's happening on the North Fork this week.

- Auditions for the North Fork Community Theater's production of "Steel Magnolias" will be held at NFCT on Monday, November 4 from 6  to 9 p.m. If callbacks are necessary, they will be held on Tuesday The cast consists of six women: Trudy Jones (40ish); Annelle Duprey-DeSoto (19ish); Claire Belcher (66ish); Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie (25ish); M'Lynne Eatenton (50ish); and Ouiser Boudreau (66ish). Show dates are January 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, 30; February 1 and 2.

- - The first-ever "Taste North Fork" event unfolds over the three-day Veterans weekend, with free bus service from Riverhead to Orient and back, and a full slate of events, sales, music and other happenings. For a full schedule, click here

- Maureen's Haven will begin again to provide food and shelter on cold nights to the East End's homeless. Donations and volunteers always needed. For information, call Peconic Community Council, 631-727-6820.

- Thursdays are open mic night at MEET, one of the four businesses brought to life by chef Keith Luce in Greenport.
