- A Goldsmith Inlet Cleanup Takes place Saturday at 10 a.m. Meet on Soundview Avenue next to the trailhead. Join Group for the East End, Group to Save Goldsmith Inlet and the Southold-Mattituck-Greenport JROTC in the annual cleanup of Goldsmith Inlet; there's still lots of debris and trash leftover from last year's storms. Participate in the great community service project and lend a hand to cleanup the unique natural area. Wear sturdy shoes and bring work gloves. Plastic gloves and bags will be provided.  For more info, contact Jenn Hartnagel at 765-6450 ext. 211 or at jhartnagel@eastendenvironment.org.

- Knit a gift, Grandma's Slippers Revisited, will take place Saturday at Altman's on Love Lane in Mattituck at 11 a.m. An updated design of an old favorite, embellished with a vintage button. Easy enough to make a pile of them for gifts that your friends and family will love, or to have on hand at home for visitors on snowy nights. (Not for beginners, please.) This is #4 in the Saturday workshop series "The 12 Gifts of Christmas." Only $30, or $25 if you take more than one workshop.

- Sylvestor Manor House Tours, "Mystery of the Manor: Tales Tall and True," will take place Saturday, beginning at noon, on Shelter Island. Tour guides will spirit visitors through the house while sharing Sylvester family ghost stories and lore created over the 360-year history of the Manor. Outdoor kids' activities will include bobbing for apples and Halloween-themed arts and crafts. The grounds are available for self-guided touring. Historic house tours require a reservation and $5 fee at door. House tours best suited for ages 8 and up. Email info@sylvestermanor.org to RSVP for the event and/or schedule your house tour.
