Weekend Spotlight: Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival

From hulling strawberries and indulging in shortcake to living it up at the area's biggest carnival of the year, the Mattituck Strawberry Fest always has something for everyone.

Always a popular attraction for local and visiting kids and families, 56th annual Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival begins with a strawberry hulling session from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday with limited carnival hours on the grounds of Strawberry Field in Mattituck during the evening. Lions Club members are still looking for volunteers to help hull the strawberries.

On Friday, carnival rides will be open from 5 until 11 p.m. with strawberry drinks and treats of all types available for refreshments.

Then the fun kicks into full gear on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., when both carnival rides and craft vendors will be open, the "Strawberry Queen" will be crowned and fireworks will light up the night sky.
