Question: How Will You Commemorate Veterans Day?
Veteran's Day is Friday — how will you honor the men and women who have served our country?
Since 1919, Veteran's Day has been a way to remember and honor U.S. military veterans. It falls on Nov. 11 to remember the end of hostilities during World War I on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when Germans signed the Armistice. That date so long ago is even more in focus, with Friday falling on 11/11/11 this year.
What will you be doing to commemorate Veterans Day this year? Attending Southold American Legion's annual at 11 a.m., followed a ? Are you planning your own private memorial service to remember a loved one? Or will you spend most of the day with the kids home from school?
