Correction: Lenten Service Offerings at Five Churches to Help Bakanic Family Rebuild

Local churches announce various Lenten service fundraisers, including a gift certificate from Riverhead Building Supply for the Bakanic family of Southold.

Beginning March 16, members of churches in the Mattituck-Cutchogue Clergy Association will donate offerings received at Lenten services this week to two worthy causes: for their Camp Good Grief, and a gift certificate to Riverhead Building Supply to help the Bakanic family of Southold rebuild following a fire that destroyed their home two weeks ago.

Lenten services will be held at the following churches for the next five Wednesdays: , , , , and .

John and Janine Bakanic and their daughter Jessie were not home at 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 25, when an completely gutted their home on North Bayview Road. Several on North Fork Patch and on Facebook to offer help to the Bakanics, and Agway in Southold created a fund to help take care of the family's horses and chickens.
