Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society Seeks Director

Members of local historic society seek someone to fill a paid director position.

Though the has never operated with a paid director before, board members recently decided that want to give one a try to boost membership and community outreach.

The board is seeking someone versed in special events fundraising and community outreach for the position, which they've set up for a three-month trial period at $100 per week.

The director would be expected to work at least 5 hours a week but is always welcome to put in more time, said board member Nicholas Planamento.

"This person will act independently as an 1099 individual but guide us in achieving goals such as membership, education/social events, website maintenance, etc.," he said. "We ask applicants to outline how they can help us - rather than us writing a job description."

Planamento said the board is hoping to find someone to start as soon as possible and have three tasks complete prior to a review after the three-month trial period is up.
