Jamesport Fire Department Readies For Annual Carnival

Carnival starts Tuesday, ending with fireworks on Saturday night.

Jamesport Fire Department is setting up for its annual carnival at the corner of South Jamesport Boulevard and Main Road, as the fundraiser kicks off Tuesday and runs through Saturday night.

The carnival is free of admission, with a $25 option to ride all night; hours will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with extended hours on Saturday from 5 p.m. until midnight.

First Asst. Chief Sean McCabe, running the carnival this year, said donations are still needed for the fireworks show, which will take place Saturday at 10 p.m.

"There will be a lot of parties going on that will use the fireworks as a focal point, so we're hoping to raise some funds to give them a good show," he said. To date, the department has raised about $2,500 with a goal of $6,500.

Also an annual tradition will be the carnival parade, which will kick off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The carnival is one of three fundraisers the department holds each year, also including the 10k and a letter writing campaign.
