Greenport Brewery Accepting Donations for Those in Need

The North Fork's only brewery is not only getting into the holiday spirit with seasonal beer,  is holding a "Helping Neighbors" drive through Dec. 23, asking visitors to donate shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant or any other kind of toiletries for . The brewery will match all donations collected.

"There continues to be so many people in need right now, and we wanted to help out in any way we could," said Betsy Liegey, a brewery spokesperson. "We are well aware of the incredible work CAST does in the area, so reached out to them to see how we could be of most assistance."

Liegey said that she learned that those in need can use food stamps for food, but not for other necessities most take for granted, and CAST's current inventory of essential toiletries is quite low.

"We are fortunate enough to have such a great and loyal community of people who visit the brewery," Liegey said. "We knew if we asked them to help those less fortunate, they would rise to the occasion."

The drive started on Dec. 3 and will run through Dec. 23. You can drop off donations between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, or during tasting room hours on Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 6 p.m.

Greenport Harbor Brewery is located at 234 Carpenter Street in Greenport.
