After leading last week's "Good News" to help a non-profit purchase Nikola Tesla's final laboratory in Shoreham, it only seemed fitting to provide the update.
Not only did the effort - started by web comic The Oatmeal - raise its $850,000 goal in less than a week. As of Saturday morning, over $1.1 million has been raised. Funding above and beyond the goal will go toward the creation of a museum on the site to honor Tesla's memory.
Perhaps fittingly, the donation that hit the $850,000 benchmark came from filmmakers of "Fragments From Olympus-The Vision of Nikola Tesla."
"Itʼs all part of the vindication of Tesla, who sacrificed so much and died penniless," said Joseph Sikorski. "Telling his story is the next part.”
The fundraiser, set up through indiegogo.com, will remain open for just over a month, as scheduled.
It might seem like something out of a movie, but after years of searching, Baiting Hollow artist Max Moran - after hiring private investigators, speaking with police and the FBI's Art Crime Team, scouring the art black market - recovered what was rightfully his: his stolen artwork.
