Orient Fire Department Revives Old-Fashioned Pig Roast

Traditional BBQ will help fund fall open house and other community programs.

Remember the days of the annual pig roast held at a park off Village Lane in Orient a few years back?

Well, the this year, this time to be held on the grounds of the Orient Fire Department this coming Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. New fire department member Louis Yoh, a weekend Orient resident from Manhattan, rekindled the event with roasted pigs, beer and wine and a whole lot of extras all made with local produce.

“Basically everything and everyone involved is local, as is the band The Locals,” said Yoh. “We are hoping to bring together the community for a good old-fashioned pig roast to raise funds for the fire company.”
