Hamptons Collegiate Baseball Eyes Shelter Island for New Team

Baseball team managers propose new summer team for Shelter Island at school board meeting.

Hamptons Collegiate Baseball Team managers approached members of the Shelter Island school board last week about using the school's baseball facilities to host games for a Shelter Island team to be added to the existing six teams on the league's roster, according a report from the Shelter Island Reporter.

Sag Harbor Whalers manager Tom Gleeson told school board members that Shelter Island is an ideal location between the Twin Forks, where the Westhampton Aviators, Southampton Breakers, North Fork Ospreys, Sag Harbor Whalers, and the Riverhead Tomcats have been playing during the past three summers.

In related news, HCB announced on Monday that it will be adding a team next summer in Center Moriches — the Battlecats, which will be led by President Anthony Eaderesto and managed by former Sachem baseball coach and current Bellport coach Bill Batewell. The team will play at Paul Gibson Field.
