Shelter Island 10K/5K Walk

The Shelter Island 10K/5K Walk takes place rain or shine. Olympians expected to race this year are Frank Shorter, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Keith Brantly and Bill Rodgers.

Registeration online is now open. In person registration and number pickup will be available at the Shelter Island High School on June 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. and June 16 from noon to 4 p.m.

Those registered by June 1, 2012 will be entered in the JetBlue raffle for two airline tickets courtesy of JetBlue. The raffle will take place at the awards ceremony.

There is prize money involved: Males & Females 1- $1000, 2- $ 500, 3- $300, 4- $200, 5- $150, 6-10 - $75
$1,500 bonus for new course record.
Masters: If a master athlete finishes in the top 3 overall he/she will be moved into the overall prize structure and the next master finisher will get the master's prize money. 1- $300 Masters Course Record Bonus- $300

Awards will be given out to Male and Female eleventh place overall. Males and Females 19 & under, then 5-year age groups up to 70+.

Finish Line Road Race Technicians will time the race.

A pre-race pasta buffet will be held on June 15 at the American Legion Hall from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at door. Children under 12 - $5. $30 maximum for one family. $15 any time for Shelter Island residents. Proceeds benefit 6th & 7th grades.
