The first annual Lt. Joe Theinert Shelter Island Spur Ride is a 25 mile or 12.5 mile bike ride around Shelter Island. A community cookout will follow at the American Legion Hall with the Realm performing. Theinert was killed in Afghanistan on June 4, 2010. He was assigned to the Army’s 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, part of the 10th Mountain Division.
Proceeds will benefit the Joseph J. Theinert Memorial Fund.
Registration fee includes any roue and a 2012 "I EARNED MY SPURS" T-SHIRT, admission to the cookout.

You can register the day of the event or pick up your packet starting at 7 a.m. The kick off celebration will begin at 8 a.m. The ride begins at 8:30 a.m.
