Help Plant Beach Grass

Southold Land Preservation Dept, Neighbor

Please join Suffolk County Parks and Town of Southold in planting beach grass on the coastal bluff at the Bittner Property on Soundview Avenue in Peconic on Wednesday, November 30th from 10am-4:00pm.  Bring your trowel or dibble stick!

Where: The property is about a third of a mile west from the entrance to Peconic Dunes County Park on Soundview Avenue; signs will be posted for the event. 

Why: This 57-acre property was a joint open space purchase by the County and Town in 2008 for passive recreational use.  This project will help stabilize the property’s primary dune and is part of an overall effort to officially open up the park for public access.  For more information, call the Town of Southold Land Preservation Department at (631) 765-5711 or e-mail laura.klahre@town.southold.ny.us
