Students Get Artistic in Mattituck

Kids got busy with "action painting" on the front lawn of Mattituck High School.

Mattituck students got up close and personal with the painting style of a master this week.

Students from Dina Rose's studio art class attended a field trip to the Pollock Krasner House in East Hampton on May 1.

After studying the work of Long Island artist Jackson Pollock and visiting his studio in Springs, students from Mattituck High School took part in an “action painting” activity on the front lawn of the high school Tuesday.

"Students squirted and threw paint on canvases creating work to emulate Jackson Pollocks abstract expressionist painting style," Rose said.
