Signs Of School Budget Vote Springing Up

The school budget vote takes place on Tuesday, May 21.

With the school budget vote coming up on May 21, signs urging residents to head out to the polls are popping up around Southold.

The vote will take place Tuesday in the Southold high school gym from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The Southold PTA has sponsored the signs; which feature a bright red apple and the words "Vote Yes!"

The $28 million budget was adopted by the board of education last month; the BOE closed a $700,000 gap with increased state aid and retirements.

The budget to budget increase for the 2013-2014 budget is 3.94 percent, rather than the initially proposed almost six percent.

Also on Tuesday, one incumbent, Judi Fouchet, will seek election to fill her seat for another term; she is running unopposed.
