North Fork Navy Junior Cadets Host Regional 2010 Drill Competition

Nearly 2,300 Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp cadets from New York and Connecticut attended sixth-annual drill competition.

The unit held its sixth-annual drill competition this past Saturday at . Attended by nine NJROTC units from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, this competition is a stepping stone for the top three units to move onto the Area 4 Finals at Middletown in May.

As host, Southold could not compete for overall placement. The top three units were Riverhead, Linden and Bethel, C.T.  Over 2,300 cadets, parents, family and friends attended the competition.

"It was a very competitive day and all cadets performed in an outstanding manner," said Maj. William Grigonis, longtime coordinator of the North Fork NJROTC. "Thanks to the local community for supporting the event, especially the cadet parents, Mattituck High School staff and administration and theEMT Squad."
