Image of an Explosion Prompts Temporary Release of Mattituck Students

An image of an explosion was enough for administrators at Mattituck High School to release students and inspect the building Thursday morning.

Students at had class outside for about two hours as and members of the inspected the building Thursday morning.

Police said that an image of an explosion in a bathroom prompted the evacuation around 10 a.m. Nothing suspicious was found after the inspection of the building.

Students were gathered on the front lawn of the school and around sport facilities west of the building. They returned indoors just before noon.
