Port Of Egypt Marine Hosts Peconic Bay Power Squadron For National Boater Safety Week

Port of Egypt Marine joins the National Boater Safety Week campaign,  “Ready, Set, Wear It!” (www.readysetwearit.com), to promote the use of inflatable life jackets with the Peconic Bay Power Squadron on Saturday, May 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The squadron will perform safety vessel checks to insure that the vessel includes: registration, working fire extinguishers, appropriate number of life vests, water bucket and whistle or air horn along with the recommended first aid kit and VHF radio. Guests will also have a chance to learn how to properly inflate and test their own life vests with air cartridges replaced free of charge.  A safety demonstration on the proper use of boat flares will also be offered. Members of the squadron available on sight will be: District 3 Safety Officer P/C Joseph Ruggieri, Safety Officer Larry Hynes, Commander Diane Sherman, Executive Officer Roger Blaugh, Administrative Officer John Sanfilippo and Secretary Helen Horton. Members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary will also be on sight including: Commander of the Flotilla 08 Division 18 District 1SR Barbara Christianson and Safety Officer Edward Webb.
