June General Meeting: The Breeding Birds of Long Island

Eric Salzman focuses on birds that choose Long Island as their primary "home." The future of a strong and healthy avian community relies on breeding birds, not vagrants. The nesting birds of Long Island reflect the human as well as the natural history of our historically diverse ecosystem. Salzman, an editor at Birding Magazine and a contributor to Winging It (the newsletter of the American Birding Association) has been watching birds on Long Island for many decades, and he has a report on how and why this population has changed in recent years.

Refreshments start at 7 p.m. The lecture follows at 7:30 p.m.
