As a teenager, Mark taught himself electronics because his parents were charged $11 for someone replacing two tubes in their five-tube Zenith clock-radio! At one point, he had 12 TV's in his basement.
In 1969, he was hired by IBM where he became a Large System (mainframe) Specialist, with a national reputation. During that time he built his own PC before IBM had ever thought about it. After ten years, he transferred to the IBM Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY, where he spent 25 years involved with PC hardware (design, build, and debug), and software (writing file systems and device drivers for an operating system). His team built and produced the first certified, tamper-resistant cryptographic card for a PC, which is now used by many banks today. He has been awarded two U.S. patents. Mark retired in 2004 and is now a full-time resident of Shelter Island.
