Empty Bowls Project Rescheduled At Mattituck High School

The event will take place on March 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Empty Bowls Project, which was cancelled at Mattituck High School due to recent weather, has been rescheduled.

The event will take place in the Mattituck High School cafeteria on March 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The premise behind the Empty Bowls' concept is that participants create ceramic bowls; a simple dinner of soup and bread is planned. Guests are asked to donate a suggested minimum donation of $10.

Guests choose a bowl to keep as a reminder of the bowl they have helped to fill.

According to school officials, the Mattituck Junior-Senior High School has been actively participating in the internationally known Empty Bowls Project.

Students, teachers and community members have been creating ceramic bowls under the direction of Mattituck art teachers. Art Partners will sponsor the soup and bread supper. Proceeds from the Mattituck High School event will benefit Maureen's Haven, a local organization run under the auspices of Peconic Community Council to provide food and shelter at East End houses of worship during the cold winter months.

I wish I could attend. Where can I send a donation?

Is there a place in the area that is open to non-students for doing any wheel throwing to make bowls for this event?
