Common Core Meeting Moved To New Locale

What do you have to say about the Common Core curriculum?

An upcoming Common Core forum hosted by New York State Education Commissioner Dr. John King has been moved from an initially suggested Riverhead site to a new location.

The forum will now be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Eastport-South Manor High School, located at 543 Moriches-Middle Island Road, in Manorville.

The intent of the meeting is to give parents, students, and educators the opportunity to ask questions and express their opinions about the New York State Education Department’s roll out of the Common Core, teacher evaluations, testing and student privacy.

The auditorium seats 1000; seats will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

At the first Common Core meeting in the area, held at Ward Melville High School Tuesday night, around 1200 turned out and blasted the Common Core Curriculum.
