One Bag of Pet Food Can Help Keep a Family Together

Dry cat and dog food donations are needed at the Town of Southold Animal Shelter to help out North Fork residents.

Adopting an animal is surely a wonderful way to help your family grow. But whether or not this is an option for you, there are many other ways to help the better the lives of animals. One of these ways can actually help the North Fork community directly as well — donating dry pet food.

Families struggling financially often feel they have to give their beloved pets up in times of crisis. But the Town of Southold Animal Shelter is dedicated in trying to make sure this doesn't happen.

One of the ways that the shelter works to avoid this from happening is by setting up a pet food bank where people who cannot afford to buy their own dog and cat food are always welcome to pick a bag up.

The pet food bank program is run with the help of donations of food, and currently it is extremely low.

By just dropping off at least one bag of dry cat or dog food, you can help a family in need.

To aid in the replenishing of donations, Amy Cirrincione, owner of in Cutchogue, is offering a 10 percent discount on all dry dog or cat food that is purchased to be donated to the shelter.
