WATCH: Longtime Southold Town Public Works Director Honored

Southold Town Supervisor presents Jim McMahon with a proclamation after his retirement.

Jim McMahon, the Southold Town's longtime head of the public works department, retired after 32 years of writing grants, creating parks and recreation space and just trying to make life a little better for kids and families in Southold Town.

McMahon will be helping the department with ongoing shellfish programs and grants that need rolling over every year.

“I’ve been doing this for so long, I figured I could still be helpful to stewardship programs in town,” he told Patch in December.

Watch this video short of McMahon being honored by the Southold Town Board Tuesday night.
