The supervisor suggested residents monitor the town's website and local media for updates.

With the countdown on for the blizzard to slam the North Fork, Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell has advised residents to stay off the roads and stay safe.

Russell said he has activated the town's emergency management operations team.

"We will continue to monitor the storm and will take actions as needed," Russell said.

He suggested residents monitor the town's website and local media for updates.
