Town Holds Emergency Board Meeting to Send Police Officers to Academy

Southold Town Board holds a quick meeting Tuesday morning to approve education for police officers.

Southold Town Board held a special meeting on Tuesday at 9 a.m. to send two of three newly hired police officers to police academy.

In a telephone interview, Town Supervisor Scott Russell said that the board needed to meet in a hurry because the deadline for the police academy enrollment is Nov. 29.

Russell said that only two of the police officers needed to go to the academy and that the third had already been.

He stated that the agenda was posted and available on the Southold Town website: http://southoldtown.iqm2.com/citizens/Detail_Meeting.aspx?ID=1199

Russell also stated that this was item was approved and it was the only item discussed at Tuesday's impromtu meeting.
