Town Board Preview: Budget, Housing, and Website

Members of the Southold Town Board will hold its semi-monthly work session on Tuesday morning to discuss the town budget, planning initiatives and environmental conservation, among other things. It begins at 9 a.m. in the meeting room of .

A few items on the agenda include: 

  • Town Comptroller John Cushman, after speaking with the town board on July 5, will present to the board a six-month budget analysis, detailing where the town stands fiscally with half of the year remaining.
  • Deputy Town Supervisor Phil Beltz will speak to the board about proposing a home in Greenport West for the town's affordable housing program. Beltz said he will be joined by the Interim President of Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk, Les Scheinfeld.
  • Beltz also said that as a member of the town's recently created Website Development Committee, Information Technology Department Head Lloyd Reisenberg is going to ask the town to approve a request for proposals for a new town website.
  • Town Planner Mark Terry is going to present to the board the Goldsmith Inlet Watershed Workplan, a plan to help clean up the inlet. The town has worked in conjunction with the Group to Save Goldsmith's Inlet - a group of residents who live nearby in Cutchogue - over the past couple of years to help develop the plan.
  • The Town Board will also review comments from a public hearing earlier this month on codifying public parking on Factory Avenue.
