Southold Town Board Preview: Stormwater Bond, Tennis Court Use and Public Works Discussion

The Southold Town Board will hold a work session at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The Southold Town Board will hold its bi-monthly work session tomorrow, Aug. 16 at 9 a.m. The meeting will follow at 4:30 p.m..

Here are a few of the agenda items up for discussion:

  • Southold High School has requested use of the town’s tennis  facilities at  Tasker and Jean Cochran parks for high school tennis matches between Sept. 7 and Oct. 14. Southold School has its own courts. The town will meet with Ken Reeves, the town’s director of parks and recreation, at the work session to discuss tennis court use.
  •  The Town plans to approve a resolution to issue $500,000 in serial bonds for the construction of storm water mitigation improvements throughout the town.
  •  Councilman Albert Krupski has called for a discussion about the function of the town’s department of public works during the work session.
  • Deputy Director of Public Works Jeff Standish will ask the town to approve the purchase of a used refrigerated box truck to store deer meat. Southold has spearheaded a deer management assistant program for the last three years, which allows bow hunters to hunt deer on town property and either keep the meat or donate it to the town for distribution to area food pantries. The town is seeking to expand this program. Standish will appear before the board at the work session to discuss the purchase of the refrigerator truck.
