Southold Town Board Preview: March 29

Tomorrow's Southold Town Board work session and meeting include discussion of a watershed project at Jockey Creek in Southold and a new constable on Fishers Island.

Tomorrow means Tuesday. The following are only a few of the issues on the table at the 4:30 meeting:

  • Town board members will vote to approve an agreement between the Town and the Horsley Witten Group — a sustainable environmental solutions agency based in Massachusettes — to create subwatershed management plans for Town Creek, Jockey Creek, Goose Creek and Richmond Creek in Southold. The study cost about $40,000.
  • The board plans to approve the appointment of Fishers Island's new Constable, Peter Brock, who recently finished New York State Peace Officer Academy training and was sworn in as Constable on Southold's isolated easternmost hamlet on Jan. 31. Brock is to be paid an annual salary of $17,841.83 effective April 5, 2011 —  commencement of the Peace Officer Academy.
  • An act to amend a law relating to the creation of the Peconic Bay Regional Transportation Authority will be discussed at the board's 9 a.m. work session. The bill which would create an alternative to the Metropolitan Transit Authority on the East End was created in January.
