Residents To Air Complaints Over Mail Delivery on Shelter Island

Tim Bishop calls a meeting for April 10.

Shelter Island residents will have the chance to express their frustrations with mail delivery during a public meeting scheduled for next week.

U.S. Rep. Tim Bishop, D-Southampton, called the meeting for April 10 at Shelter Island Town Hall, starting at 6 p.m.

On Shelter Island, where home delivery is not available, most people use a post office box at one of two post offices to receive mail. Having two zip codes — 11964 for Shelter Island and 11965 for Shelter Island Heights — may be contributing to the problem.
