PHOTOS: Republicans Celebrate Win at Soundview
Southold GOP members watched the numbers come in and got to celebrate when their landslide win was apparent on Tuesday night.
Southold Town Supervisor , Justice , Tax Receiver , and Republican candidates for Town Council and Trustee all got to kick back and relax fairly early into the vote tally after polls closed at 9 p.m. Tuesday night — when it was obvious they would sweep the election.
"I feel overwhelmed," said new Council member who served the town for years as a Trustee. "I've been in town for a long time, and it seems that my hard work and loyalty has paid off."
Russell said he felt flattered and honored that the public decided to elect him into his third term.

"It was a positive experience — I felt good about the campaign we ran," he said.
Russell said he will continue to concentrate on making the sure the town's "fiscal house is in order" and developing the town's comprehensive plan.

, who was re-elected as town Trustee, agreed with Russell that the Republican's positive approach in this campaign paid off.
"The Democrats seemed to take the approach that this is an awful place to live and that we are in a heap of trouble," he said. "But the truth is — people like living here. We have some of the lowest property taxes in the state and it's a beautiful place. So I wouldn't say that voters were apathetic this year — they just like the way things are."
